We Have Never Been Modern

We Have Never Been Modern is an installation, atelier, and exhibition all in one. It is a research space where visitors can reflect on, shape, and share their thoughts and feelings about our relationship with/in nature. Visitors engage in conversation with themselves, with each other, and with the changing landscape they are part of. The conversations take place in various ways: in silence, with the help of objects, and with words. All those present together (the people, the objects, and the landscape) form a lively and also disturbing exhibition about the place we occupy as humans on earth.

We Have Never Been Modern is partly inspired by Bruno Latour’s work of the same name.

We Have Never Been Modern was developed by Daan ‘t Sas and Lotte van den Berg in collaboration with, among others, scenographer Anne Habermann, urbanist Arie Lengkeek, and multimedia specialist Willem Weemhoff.
